During the latest episode of Vanity Fair’s podcast Still Watching, some exciting news broke about the upcoming film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. According to JoAnna Robinson, the show’s host, Corey Stoll will return “in some shape” as Darren Cross (aka Yellowjacket) in the third film in the series.
The last we saw of Cross was at the end of 2015’s Ant-Man when he presumably died. In the scene, Cross was about to kill Cassie Lang when her father Scott (played by Paul Rudd) sacrificed himself by shrinking into the Yellowjacket suit and damaging it. This caused it to gruesomely collapse into itself and vanish.
During the podcast, Robinson didn’t give any details on if in fact, Cross died or if Stoll would play a different “Variant” of the character. With the Quantum realm heavily involved in the film, there are certainly plenty of options for him to make a return.
Filming for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania began last month in London. Along with Rudd and Stoll, it will star Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as an older Cassie Lang. Last fall, it was revealed that Lovecraft Country’s Jonathan Majors will play the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror in the film.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
