Last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Tom Hiddleston would return to play fan-favorite Loki in a 6-episode series for Disney’s new streaming service. Now according to another Marvel TV show star, the show may have picked up an early renewal.
Clark Gregg, who plays Agent Phil Coulson on the ABC show Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., may have inadvertently let it be known that the God of Mischief will be returning for a second season.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t say boy, that would really be interesting to start the experiment over,” Gregg said. “Doing 10 episodes or 12 episodes the way Tom Hiddleston told me he was doing [on Loki] with that kind of budget and that Marvel Cinematic production team.”Clark Gregg talking to Variety
So unless Gregg misspoke, the plan is for Hiddleston to film more than the original 6 episodes that were previously announced. If that’s the case, then it seems there will be a second season for the Marvel Studios show. It should also be noted that Taika Waititi, who will be directing the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, would not say if Loki would be in the film. If he is then one would think that the second season would take place after the movie.
At the moment, the show is expected to hit the streamer in Spring 2021. Although with shooting currently halted because of the Coronavirus outbreak, that could change.
