Last week, when director James Gunn confirmed Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock casting, he also said that filming for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would begin in a “couple weeks.” Well, it appears Gunn should have said a “week” instead because it looks like it’s already started.
According to Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, filming for the third installment in the series has started. Pratt revealed the news in a message he sent to Conan O’Brien and Team Coco to promote the upcoming Parks and Recreation podcast “Parks and Recollections.”
Yesterday MCU fans received some bad news when Marvel Studios announced that five of their upcoming films had been delayed. Thankfully, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was not one of them and is still slated to be released on May 5, 2023. In a tweet posted yesterday, Gunn assured fans that the movie would not be moved.
While plot details for Vol. 3 are still unknown, it is expected to be the final film in the series that Gunn will be involved with. There’s no word on if the series will continue after with another director.
At Disney’s Investor Day event last December, it was revealed that a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+ was in the works. Filming for the special is expected to begin during Vol. 3, so sometime in the next couple of months.
