Last month, news broke that actress Chloe Bennet had departed the CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls show due to a scheduling conflict. Following her exit, fans of the Marvel Television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which Bennet appeared in as Daisy Johnson (aka Quake), began to speculate that the reason she left was because she was going to reprise her role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming series Secret Invasion.
Now, after overwhelmingly being asked on social media and also an inappropriate public encounter with a fan at a Target, Bennet has posted on on her Instagram story that she will not be appearing in the Disney+ series.
“I am in no way attached or involved, even at all or a little bit, in the Secret Invasion Marvel thing. I honestly don’t even know what that is.”
“It’s gotten to the point where every day, I’m getting hundreds of messages about this, and now I’m getting approached in person,” she continued. “Today it was in the tampon aisle at Target, a little inappropriate – so I figured I would clear the air. I have no involvement in that. I’m sorry to break the news to you about that, but hopefully, this puts that to rest.”
First off, it’s not a good idea to approach any actor/actress while there out shopping for personal items. In fact, it’s downlight creepy.
Second, just because she said she’s not appearing in it, I still wouldn’t rule it out. Many stars over the years have lied about being in an upcoming MCU films. More recently, Andrew Garfield has denied multiple times that he’s not in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Yet fans (myself included) think he’s full of it.
Bennet’s Quake isn’t the only character from Marvel Television that’s rumored to appear in the MCU. Since January, multiple outlets have reported that Charlie Cox will reprise his Netflix Daredevil role in No Way Home. Cox initially denied any involvement, but lately, he’s changed his tone. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones are some of the others that have been rumored to return.
As for Secret Invasion, the six-episode series began filming earlier this month in London. Based on the popular event from Marvel comics, the series will star Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Christopher McDonald. Look for it to hit the Disney streaming service sometime in 2022.
