Characters from Big Hero 6 are not headed to the MCU

Yesterday, The Disinsider reported that characters from the Disney animated film Big Hero 6 would debut in the MCU in an upcoming project. Now that report has been debunked by a major Hollywood trade site.

Variety, which is as connected as anyone, says characters from the 2014 animated film will not be making their live-action debut in the MCU anytime soon. Someone within Marvel Studios was cited as their source.

Derek Cornell, who broke the story at The Disinsider, says he stands by his reporting. In a post on his Twitter account, he referenced a previous time that he reported something that was initially debunked. In that case, it turned out he was correct.

Personally, I don’t know which way this story will go. I do think that Variety’s source is someone at Marvel Studios. The question is are they telling the truth or are they lying to throw people off that way it’s more a surprise when it happens? Only time will tell.

For those that are unfamiliar with them, Big Hero 6 was originally a superhero team that debuted in Marvel Comics in 1998. The 2014 film was loosely based off the comics. Changes were made to make it more family-friendly.
