On Thursday, Marvel Studios released the second trailer for their upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The two-minute video contained many new action-packed shots that were not shown in the first one. It also included a big reveal at the end that the Abomination is going to be in the film.
With less than two weeks until its release (July 9th), Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is projecting to be the industry’s highest earner at the box office since the pandemic began. According to Shawn Robbins, an analyst for Box Office Pro, the Scarlett Johansson-led film is expected to earn $65M-$90M during its opening weekend domestically. The outlet also says that it should finish its run stateside with a total in the range of $155M-$225M.
If the numbers hold, Black Widow would be the biggest opening since December 2019 when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opened to $177.4M. Considering that the film will also be available to purchase ($30) on Disney+ the same day it hits theaters, I think Marvel and Disney should be pretty satisfied with these numbers.
