Andrew Garfield breaks his silence on Spider-Man: No Way Home return and reveals if he’d come back again

Andrew Garfield finally started to speak out this week about making his return as Peter Parker (AKA Spider-Man) in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In an exclusive interview with Variety, The Amazing Spider-Man actor talked about returning to the franchise.

“I wasn’t expecting to ever have a conversation again about potentially playing Peter Parker. I felt very excited to just to be a fan again. But I got this call from Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and Jon Watts with this idea. It was immediately undeniable. It sounded incredibly fun, incredibly spiritual — trippy and thematically interesting. On a base level, as a Spider-Man fan, just the idea of seeing three Spider-Men in the same frame was enough.”

Later on in the interview, Garfield was asked if he would be open to coming back again.

“I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight (ET), Garfield revealed that during the first night of its release, he and Tobey Maguire disguised themselves and snuck into a screening.

“I still can’t believe it happened,” Garfield gushed. “I snuck into a theater on opening night and just watched with my baseball cap on and my mask. In fact, I was also with Tobey, me and Tobey snuck into a theater together and no one knew we were there. It was just a really beautiful thing to share together.”

Hours after the interview was posted, a photo online surfaced of Garfield and Maguire at a movie theater on opening night. In the picture they were joined by the film’s director Jon Watts.

Black Widow lost an estimated $600M because of piracy

This week, it was revealed that Disney’s decision last July to release Black Widow on Disney+’s Premier Access cost the company a lot of money. According to Deadline, releasing the Marvel Studios film on the streamer the same day it hit theaters, resulted in it being pirated more than 20M times, translating to a $600M loss.

Adding to the further erosion of box office for any theatrical-day-and-date release on streaming is the fact that these movies are pirated promptly, with clean 4K copies in several languages spread around the world. By the end of August, sources in the know informed us that Black Widow had been pirated more than 20M times. That’s close to a $600M estimated loss on Black Widow in Disney+ PVOD revenue alone.
