Disney CEO says Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will only be in theaters for 45 days before hitting streaming
When Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings opens in theaters on September 3rd, it will become the first Marvel Studios produced film to get an exclusive theatrical release since the pandemic began. However, according to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, its window will be much less than past MCU films.
During the companies quarterly earnings call on Thursday, Chapek announced that the Simu Liu-led film will only be in theaters for 45 days before moving to streaming. The industry standard used to be 90 days, but since the pandemic decimated the theater industry, studios have started to shorten their film windows.
