Earlier this week, rumors began circling around that Marvel Studios was looking for an “Alison Brie type” to play She-Hulk in the upcoming Disney+ series. In an interview during The Late Late Show With James Corden, Brie was asked about the rumors.
“I didn’t know it was such a trending thing, but I woke up to a lot of Instagram posts of like side-by-side pictures of me and She-Hulk, which I just thought; ‘cool’. And then that quote about an “Alison Brie-type”, which honestly I found very exciting because for years I’ve auditioned for the Anne Hathaway type or the Zooey Deschanel type, I was very flattered to be my own type for somebody else.”
When asked what she thinks about the possibility of playing the character, the Glow star added in an awkward response, that she “finds it interesting.” Speculation has now begun that this was a hint that she has already had discussions with the studio about the role.
She-Hulk, which is expected to begin filming in the fall, will follow Jennifer Walters. In the comics, she is the cousin of Bruce Banner(aka The Hulk). After a blood transfusion with Bruce, she becomes a female version of the big green monster. The only difference is she can control her emotions and can turn back into human form at any time she wants. It’s not known if the series will follow this background story from the comics.
If they did, then that would mean Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner would make an appearance. Marvel Studios, however, is known to make slight changes to characters from their source material. Until more is reported on or announced will have to wait and see.
