In April, I wrote a piece about how Doctor Strange could show up in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film. Well, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, that’s precisely what’s going to happen.
According to the outlet, Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as the Sorcerer Supreme in the third Spider-Man film. The report specifically said that Strange will serve as a “mentor” to Holland’s Peter Parker. A role filled by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan in the first and second films.
This isn’t the first time the film has made casting news headlines. Last week, it was reported that Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro. With Strange joining the picture and his history with the Multiverse, perhaps we now know how Electro will make his way into the MCU.
Production for the Spidey film is expected to begin in the next couple of weeks. Shooting for Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is also scheduled to start this month.
Slated to be released on December 17, 2021, Spider-Man 3 will see Jon Watts return as director. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will be arriving a couple of months after that on March 25, 2022.
