In early September, it was reported that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would begin filming in the UK in November. Now in a new interview with Watch Time India, the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, has confirmed that is the plan.
“I’m in pre-production with the second Doctor Strange film, which is very exciting, We will start filming in late October or early November.”
Originally the film was going to begin shooting in May and be released in theaters May 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic production and its release date were pushed back (March 2022).
Earlier in the year the Phase 4 film also had a change in directors. Scott Derrickson, who directed the first film, left the project due to creative differences. A couple of months later, he was replaced by Sam Raimi.
Like usual, plot details are currently thin. However, it is known that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will be joining Doctor Strange as the follow-up film will somehow be connected to WandaVision.
