With production for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to begin in the coming weeks, more and more casting news will start to drop. Today we got our first big round of it when Deadline reported that actress Xochitl Gomez has joined the film in an undisclosed role.
Gomez, who’s best known for her role in Netflix’s Baby-Sitters Club series, now joins a cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo). Plot details are limited, but one thing that is known is that the film will tie directly into WandaVision, which will hit Disney+ later this year.
As said earlier, it is not known who Gomez will play. However, speculation has already begun that she will portray America Chavez, also known as Miss America. Best known for role in the Young Avengers series, the part would make sense with all the rumors going around that the team will debut in the MCU sometime soon. Possibly Ant-Man 3.
The second outing for the Sorcerer Supreme will be directed by Sam Raimi and is expected to hit theaters on March 25th, 2022. A couple of months before that, Doctor Strange will appear in Spider-Man 3, which will be released on December 17th, 2021.
