It looks like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be another Marvel Studios series that only gets one season. In a recent interview with Variety, Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson (aka Falcon), says that there have been no discussions about doing a second season.
So far, the only Marvel series for Disney+ that’s confirmed to get a second season is Loki. WandaVision, which only has one episode left, will also not get one.
After the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s not known where Mackie’s Falcon will appear next. During the interview, Mackie confirmed that he too has no idea what’s going to happen with the character.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is slated to hit Disney+ on March 19th. Along with Mackie, the show will star Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo), and Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent).
Unlike WandaVision, the series will only have six episodes. However, instead of being 30 mins long, each episode is expected to be 40-50 mins in length.
Going forward, Marvel Studios will be producing around six original series a year for the Disney streaming service. Like their box-office gold films, every show will take place within the MCU.
