For nearly six months, rumors have been going around that previous Peter Parker actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland. Since then however, not only has the studio not confirmed it, Holland himself has denied it.
Now for the very first time, Garfield has addressed the rumors. While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Horowitz, who’s the host, started to ask him about it but was quickly interrupted by Garfield.
“There isn’t anything to ruin bro! I have to just quickly cut you off. There’s nothing to ruin. Like it’s so crazy too. Dude, it’s f****** hilarious to me because it’s like…I do have this Twitter account and I see like how often Spider-Man is trending and it’s people freaking out about a thing and I’m just like…guys, guys guys guys like…I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say like, I recommend that you chill. Like listen, I can’t speak for anything else but for myself. They might be doing something, but I ain’t got a call.”
After his answer, Horowitz wanted a clear “yes” or “no” answer, so he asked him again.
“I feel like, haven’t I just said that? I did not get a call,” he reiterated. “I would’ve gotten a call by now, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t want to ruin anything. Maybe they’re going to call me and say, ‘Hey, people want this!’ Maybe it’s a market research thing…”
At this point, who the hell knows if he’s telling the truth or not. I would like to think that he and Maguire are going to be in it because it would be really cool to see all three of them on the same screen together. But at this point, who knows. What I don’t want to happen is I get my expectations way up, thinking they’re in it, and in the end, they’re not. It would be WandaVision all over again.
