Despite being in the late stages of production, The Falcon and Winter Soldier has added another member to its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Danny Ramirez joined the Disney+ series in what it calls a “pivotal role”.
Ramirez is best known for his role in Netflix’s On My Block and will also appear in the upcoming film Top Gun: Maverick.
Production for the big-budgeted series resumed about a month ago and is currently filming in Prague. Originally the show was going to be the first Marvel Studios produced series to hit the streamer (August). However, in March, production was shut down, and its release was pushed back. It will now come after WandaVision and be the second Marvel series to hit the streaming service when it’s released sometime in early 2021.
As mentioned before, Ramirez’s role in the series is “pivotal.” What that means precisely is not known as no other details were given by the outlet.
The Falcon and Winter Soldier will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. It will follow Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) as they deal with life in the MCU without Captain America. It will also star Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo), and Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent).
