With the addition of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, Ant-Man 3 looks like it will be a bigger deal than the first two films. While it’s not known when it will hit theaters, we may have just got a hint on when shooting will begin.
Actor Bobby Cannavale, who played Scott Lang’s ex-wife’s husband in the first two movies, gave an interview with Fandom recently to discuss whether he’ll be in the film and when it’s expected to start shooting.
“I think Ant-Man 3 is going next year, and hopefully I’ll be in it. I better be in it. I’ve gotta get on my phone and call Paul right now actually.”
While Cannavale didn’t give a straight answer on his involvement, I still expect him to be in it. Especially since he seems to know when shooting begins.
2021 does seem to be a logical choice for production to begin. It is already known that director Peyton Reed is returning, and it’s also known that Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness has been tapped to pen the script. So the film is already in preproduction. If I had to guess, I would say that the film will arrive in theaters sometime in late 2022 or early 2023.
Like usually, Marvel Studios has been quiet on plot details. However, it has been reported that the film will introduce the Young Avengers into the MCU. With Cassie Lang now a teenager and Kate Bishop set to debut in the Hawkeye series, that definitely seems like a possibility.
