The cast for Marvel Studios’ upcoming series Ironheart is starting to take shape. Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that actress Lyric Ross has joined the Disney+ show. Ross becomes the third person to be cast after Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams/Ironheart) and Anthony Ramos.
According to the outlet, Ross will play the best friend of Thorne’s Williams. In the comics, Williams does have a friend named Natalie Washington. Sadly she was tragically killed by gun violence while the two were teenagers. It’s unknown if this is the same character that she will play or if Marvel will even use the same backstory.
Another piece of news that The Hollywood Reporter broke in their post is that Ramos is playing the series’ villain. There have been multiple rumors that Marvel Studios has wanted to bring in the son of Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges in Iron Man) into the mix. So this might be who he is playing.
As for Ross, she is of course known for her role as Deja Pearson on the NBC series This Is Us. Her other credits include appearances in Sirens and Chicago Fire.
Filming for Ironheart is expected to begin this June in Atlanta. Before she appears in her own series, Thorne will make her MCU debut as Williams later this year in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11).
