Yesterday, Deadline revealed that Marvel Studios’ upcoming Echo series added Devery Jacobs to its cast. According to the outlet, the 28-year-old actress is said to play someone named Julie, who is described as “resilient and strong-willed.” It’s also said to be a “lead” role for the Disney+ show.
Shortly after Deadline broke the news, Jacobs confirmed on her Twitter account that she had in fact joined the Hawkeye spinoff series.
News of Jacobs joining the series was actually teased last week when Echo herself, Alaqua Cox, announced on Instagram the start of filming. In the photo Cox posted, a message is seen from Jacobs that wished her good luck and that she would “see you soon.” It’s now clear what she meant by that message.
Jacobs is of course known for starring in the show Reservation Dogs, which was co-created by Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi. For its upcoming second season, Jacobs will also serve as a writer.
Outside of Cox and Jacobs, the only other known casting for Echo is Graham Green. There have been rumors that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock (AKA Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin would also appear, but nothing has been confirmed.
With filming just starting, I would expect Echo to arrive on the Disney streaming service sometime in 2023.
